It's hard to believe that it is already May and this school year will be coming to an end soon. What a crazy 14 months it has been! We've all faced some incredible challenges in all aspects of our lives and this spring there is finally a feeling of hope in the air! A huge thank you to our teachers and administrators for working extra hard this year and adapting to many changes. When it seems like no matter what you do, and nothing is right - please know you are appreciated!
Even though we weren’t able to hold our in-person fundraising events, through the generosity of our donors, FEF had a very successful annual fund campaign, enabling us to fund critical Covid related grants. Meanwhile, the FEF Board has taken this opportunity and has been working hard on focusing on our future. We have spent much of this year planning and laying the groundwork for building a stronger and well organized foundation for the future. Many thanks to our strategic planning team for leading us in this endeavor to create a long term vision for FEF.

Spring 2021 Grant Awards
We were able to fund 4 grant requests this spring! Two of our requests involve collaborating with other community organizations, the third involves cutting edge technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences, and the fourth supports a program greatly impacted by the pandemic.
ECO Classroom Installations: The Sophomore Class of 2023 responded to the need of the Falmouth ECO Team to create more outdoor classroom space by building benches for seating on campus. FEF is proud to have supported this project in conjunction with the Falmouth Rotary Club whose volunteers provided guidance in building the benches as well as additional financial assistance. The sophomores have volunteered to build the benches and elementary school students will volunteer to paint them after they are built.
Elementary School Sensory Path: FEF and the FES PTO collaborated to provide a grant to install a Sensory Path in the elementary school. With the reduced school day schedule, there is less organized time for physical movement for our younger students. A Sensory Path is a series of decals in the hallway of the school building which are strategically arranged so that students follow the path and work their way from one end to the other, while performing certain tasks or motor movements. Students may also use the Sensory Path for movement or sensory breaks. Upon completing a sequence on the Sensory Path, students are ready to return to their classrooms more focused and less anxious.
Virtual Reality Headsets: Mr. Wolotsky was awarded funds to purchase an Oculus 2 set. The entire student technology team will be able to access this technology and investigate its potential as a teaching and learning device.
FMS Musical Theater: The show must go on! FEF is happy to be able to support our very important theater program at the Middle School. With performances canceled and fundraising opportunities (i.e. ticket sales) diminished this past year, the theater community reached out for assistance to be able to finish this year's virtual production of the Little Mermaid Jr. and gear up for next season. FMS Theater provides benefits to approximately 100 students in a typical year as well as audience members. We can't wait to see the next production!
Many Thanks to You!
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our 2020 Annual Fund! Through many generous donations FEF raised over $17,000 that will be used to support our students and educational community.
Thanks to the ongoing support of local families and businesses, FEF has funded over $1,000,000 in grants since 2005, providing innovative programs and educational materials to the students and teaching community of Falmouth. FEF’s ability to support and enrich academics, athletics, and the arts could not be possible without the generous donations from supporters like you.
If you missed the Annual Fund you can still make a tax deductible donation to FEF by sending a check to the address below or donating online.
