A Little About the Falmouth Education Foundation

Who We Are

Like other education foundations, FEF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We were founded in 1993 by a group of involved community members who wanted to support and enrich the academic, athletics and arts programs that fell outside the school and town budgets. Our mission is to promote innovative student development and to enhance educational excellence for all Falmouth children.

What We Do

Each year we raise funds through a series of events. A volunteer Board and cadre of volunteers organize and run these events. With the tremendous support of our community we have raised over $600,000 over the years. We invest 10% of what we raise in a long-term fund to ensure our sustainability and through grants we invest the remainder back into the community.

Did You Know ...

FEF has granted over $600,000 since the organization was founded in 1993. Grants have been awarded to all Falmouth schools, and also Community Programs, Maine Audubon, Falmouth Memorial Library and Family Ice Center.

Over $85,000 was awarded in Fall 2008 and Spring 2009. Over the years we have allocated grants for…

• Community Orchard, Esther O’Brian Trail, Marine Science projects, Chewonki, Camp Kieve, Falmouth Community Programs summer camp scholarships, DARE drug prevention program
• Kindergarten Crazy Creek Chair pilot reading program, Spanish picture books
• Kids Who Care, Robert Shetterly artist in residence programs, Lynn Plourde visiting author, Comics in the Classroom, Robotics Team
• Peace Jam Northeast Youth Conference, Literary Arts Festival, Schoolwide recycling program start up costs, Speech and Debate Teams, The Mast, GORP
• Unicycles, Indoor Track and Field Coach, JV and varsity volleyball uniforms, First Aid backpacks, EMT courses, Ski Team, Lacrosse program, Ice Hockey program, Youth Baseball, Ping Pong Tables
